
HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 52

Requesting the Joint Committee on Government and Finance to make
a study of the feasibility of providing listening access to
legislative sessions and committee meetings by using the
telephone, low (AM) band frequency or the internet.
Whereas,
In order to foster and promote public participation in
the political process, government should explore ways to provide
easier access to citizens to keep abreast of the legislative
process and debate of the issues; and
Whereas, The current state of technological development offers
cost-effective and convenient means to provide audiological access
to the citizenry; therefore, be it
Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That the Joint Committee on Government and Finance is hereby
requested to review, examine and study the feasibility of
providing listening access to legislative sessions and committee
meetings by using the telephone, low (AM) band frequency or the
internet
; and to make recommendations to the Legislature regarding
the same; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Joint Committee on Government and Finance report to the regular session of the Legislature,
two
thousand one, on its findings, conclusions and recommendations,
together with drafts of any legislation.
